On the cover, Amy's face and body language so clearly convey the message of "Bring It!" that the phrase was already in the forefront of my mind before I scrolled down and saw the caption at the bottom of the image. If you look at her mouth, her lips are positioned half-way through saying "Briii--"

When I read this dialogue, I still clearly hear Amy's Sonic-X voice and Antoine's SatAM voice inside my head, which is pretty awesome since the two have never interacted in any audible or animated medium. I find this happens quite often when I'm reading the comic, and it's a tribute to the quality of the dialogue.

(I always "hear" Bunnie and Sally dialogue in their SatAM voices. Tails and Rouge I usually hear in their game/Sonic-X voices. Oddly, though, for certain characters who have received a lot of character development in the comic, I find that their mental voice evolves. It's hard to imagine the holographic lynx NICOLE speaking with her Pocket PC voice. I hear Sonic's voice as a mix of his SatAM and game voices because the comic version includes elements of both. Knuckles has received so much development and complexity in the comic over the years, that some of his dialogue needs a bit more subtlety and range than his Sonic-X voice would provide. The same would go for comic book Snively and his SatAM cartoon voice.)

In several panels of the preview, you can see that Amy runs in the traditional Sega running pose with arms swept straight back in a "flying-V" formation. Antoine and Geoffrey don't run like that. Subconsciously, I know it's because Amy is a Sega character, but my conscious mind never questions it: That's Just How Amy Runs.

FINALLY we reached the Final two-parter of the whole saga.

The preview of this issue did say about a team of first-rank heroes joining the calvery at the proper moment. I wonder if the team is Sonic, Tails, Sally, Monkey Khan and Episo will be returning from the Dragon Kingdom and joining the fight, due to the spoilers from STH #211. I have been saying that this story happens after the East arc.

Ian might be able to light up the subject.

They might also joined with others from the Dragon Kingdom. I wonder if Fiona will join in, due to her returning in SU #14 & 15 (possibly #16) and having a major role in the East arc.

Yeah, thats crazy how you already got it. I'm still waiting on #209.

I would like to know more about Rotor though. Sounds really cool he was included in this one. Poor Rot', barely gets to do squat anymore.

Does it ever explain what legionize means in the comic?

Someone forgot about the original Mobotropolis, huh?

They were kids. My point isn't what happenned itself, but what they are experiencing on their skin. They always knew Mobotropolis like this, but now they had it clean and pure and on a day it went south. Not even Robotnik did it in a day. It was clean and quick- again, not even Robotnik could do it. It would be the difference between Tiananmen Square (which most of us weren't born to see), which we know was bad but can't feel it as much, and if you came from a short trip to find your city completely subjugated.

But yes, I forgot Mobotropolis.

It's alright, I was mostly being facetious. =] I can understand what you mean, it must be really flattening for them to suddenly have their city taken over so drastically and so quickly, where Eggman wasn't even able to break the city's shield with the force of his entire Egg fleet. Under Iron Dominion, things are potentially worse than they were [specifically for the Freedom Fighters post-Mobotropolis] under either Robotnik really. ...Potentially.

It makes sense though. Think about it, it was mainly because of Tails' evolution that Rotor didn't have much of an active roll in the series. With Tails not there he's the back-up smart guy and given the situation it would make sense that he would have a more active roll.

Oh, I'm well aware of all that. :) It makes sense, Tails is SegaSonic so he ultimatly trumps Rotor. Rotor became sort of redundant and was fazed out. Ian expressed it wasen't because he was intentionally sidelining Rotor... its just how things went. Kids are going be more familar with Tails as the tech guy rather then Rotor. At least Rotor has the Council gig going for him.

I understand completely. I was just expressing my sympathy for the Rotor character, especially seeing as he's a nice, friendly guy who means well. Its good to hear he had some sort of a role in this issue, even though we haven't gotten any spoilers yet. :P

Yeah yeah, I can divulge :o

Spoilers wrote:

The issue is awesome, but I wished there was some more fighting. It seems this was more set up for the big brawl next issue.

As many have guessed, Sonic & Co. comprise the "first-rank heroes" who swoop in at the end. Kind of sad; I wished the supporting characters (Amy, Ant, Geoff) got a BIT more stage time, but they do get their fair share of hits in, I suppose.

Now on to the story! When the preview leaves off, we see Geoffrey pull his bolt-shooter on Iron Nicole, only for the gang to quickly dispel his fears by saying she's on their side. Some really cute shots of Nicole here too. Apparently, the "rebellion" has been going on for days with Amy & Ant heading the charge and Bunnie hiding in the bunker so as not to become a liability. Geoffrey is apparently just back from a mission. How he got into NM in the first place is anybody's guess.

Anywho, Nicole explains to the heroes that IQ and IK plan on holding a public "legionizing" of several Mobians. Geoff asks what it means and Amy explains. It's much grosser than anything I have heard of before. From what the implications are and from what we see later on, Mobians are forced to become cyborgs...not the "put them in a capsule and push a button to quickly roboticize them" - no, they strap them down onto an O.R. table and slice them up. We soon see a bunch of DEL members and Snively will all sorts of creepy sharp devices which we can assume are for said "procedure."

The next scene is terrifying. We get Lien-Da and Snively at the Detention Center, with Lien-Da asking Snively why he keeps taking his uncle's summons, to which Sniv explains he enjoys watching Eggman in his sorry state. AND BOY IS HE IN FOR A SURPRISE!

Eggman's return is played EXCEEDINGLY well. Yeah, I had hoped he'd be crazy longer, but the first shot we get of him towering over Snively behind the glass is the most frightening I have EVER seen Robotnik (either iteration). Butler nails it here. We get several pages of Eggman saying that he remembers everything and has "figured out" the Sonic dilemma - the reason he could never defeat Sonic was because his plans never accounted for the inevitable "chaos factor" - that is, the unknown variable which exists in all science. He states that Sonic has absorbed more Chaos Energy than anyone and has thus become the embodiment of Chaos itself (I guess he forget about, well, ACTUAL Chaos), but now that he (Eggman) has realized his error, he can go ahead with his plans and asks Snively to release him. Snively laughs in his face saying he is finally on top and he and Regina are happily in love. Robotnik turns the tables and tells Snively, in an incredible speech, that he isn't capable of love and they're both deluding themselves, only using each other to gain power. Snively leaves in tears and heads to...

The public legionization. Amy leads Ant and Geoff out of the bunker and to the Coliseum (last seen in 200 for Mina's concert) where IQ explains to Jun Kun that this spectacle is merely a trap to lure the rebels from hiding. Snively then brings out the first would-be victim: Rotor! In a sick move we haven't seen from the tusked one in some time, Rotor confronts Snively about how he (Snively) used to be part of the Brain Trust, one of the good guys. Snively laughs it off, and says they were "good times." Rotor responds, simply, "Yeah, way back...WHEN I WAS A FREEDOM FIGHTER!" and proceeds to LEVEL two DEL and corner Snively! He is in prime form for about 5 seconds, with Snively cowering on the ground, when his back gives out. Ugh! Snively seizes the moment to regain the upper hand and has two Yagyu escort Rotor to the operating table.

Amy and Ant take this as their cue to jump in, but Geoff tries to play stealthy by saying they shouldn't just rush in. Amy and Ant basically say "Screw your spy tactics. We're helping our friend" and rush the arena. Geoff joins in and they all give their respective battle cries. Amy saves Rotor and Antoine - in a classic Sonic 1 maneuver - jumps on a capsule to release a group of Mobians (a la the end-of-stage capsules in the original games, capsules I don't BELIEVE we have seen since ENDGAME! It seems the heroes are fairing well until, as always, IK comes in and cleans house. Amy nails him on the head with her mallet and he is out for the moment, until IQ uses her creepy digi-hands to grab up a bunch of Mobians and deliver a great "NO ONE CAN STOP ME SPEECH!" The response? A crash of lightning from above and, you guessed it: the triumphant return of our four heroes from the East!

Fan Funnies, Sonic Grams, and previews of the next covers follow and all is well, including a Bean off-panel involving an old recycled "Knuckle Sandwich" joke wherein he throws two pieces of bread on Knux's face. Laughter.

Wow, that all sounds very amazing. Legionizing... its... quite dark, isn't it? Public display too? Dang.

Eggman's return to sanity sounds SO epic. Man I can't wait for this issue! :D :D :D
