Just posting an initiative that I've been playing around for years since I've gotten myself into the Sonic Archie Comics. Nevertheless this is something that is based off the awesome SONIC UNIVERSE series created by the wonderful team at Archie Publications Inc.
The goal of my initiative is to inspire, entertain current fans of the comic series, and attract/encourage newbies into reading the comics.
How I do that is by finding spare time to create comic semi-animation styled adaptations of my favourite SONIC UNIVERSE arcs/scenarios and throw in a radio-play element to it (complete with quality voice-overs recordings, bgm and SFX).
So far this is the end product of a 2 week long project. Click on the image below to find out what I mean and begin the animated adaptation. Enjoy!

So yeah what do you guys and gals think? I'm sick of the inevitable where people just post FULL STORY ARCS on Youtube and just get recognition for free. People don't give enough credit to the original creators behind this masterful comic series that is SONIC UNIVERSE/Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie Comics).
So in saying that I'm hoping this video will inspire people to become more proactive in their approach in sharing the comic around online. They should think twice about posting the full contents of the comic/a particular issue.
I'm hoping that this proactive video series (containing a preview of the comic - say limiting to no more than 10-25% per arc in the SU series) will, more-so, encourage people to take interest in the comic series. Whether they are new to the series or have heard about it I'd like them to physically make an effort to make a purchase the contents either through online subscription (via i-Tunes/Graphicaly/Comixology) or at their local comic book store.
The reaction I aim for when newbies watch the video is: "Hey! This looks pretty darn cool, I want to go and check it out at the comic store!". Personally I've been subscribing at Perth's 'Quality Comics' shop for a few years now and I'm darn proud to earn my own wage to pay for the comics entertainment that I look forward to every end of the month.
In addition to my discussion of 'making an effort' for the comic reader - walking to your local comic book store is a great excuse for some fresh air and some much needed daily exercise. You even get the opportunity to talk to someone about comics and the latest happenin's in the comics world!
It's all about being proactive guys and gals and doing the right thing.
Anyways, any feedback is most welcomed on the video or anything else I've discussed! Also please do not hesitate to ask me questions about the project either (voice-over auditions, how the animation process works, what is involved in creating a the visuals/audio etc...)! I'll be happy to answer your questions.
Finally, I'm currently working on the 'second act' already as we speak. "ALL HAIL THE KING BABBEEY!"
Kind regards,
Elson 'Darkspeeds' Wong
P.S. Hey did you guys and gals managed to catch up with Ian Flynn or Paul Kaminski at Comic Con this year? Be sure to show them your support at New York Con on 16th October 2011. I had a really awesome time catching up with them a couple of months ago. Don't be shy to do something proactive! Get out there and have a great time!
